Burned Broccoli

This is my favorite way to make broccoli, it’s my go-to recipe. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 large bag of chopped broccoli or 2 large heads of broccoli (mix with cauliflower if desired)
  • 3 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh cracked pepper
  • 1/2 tbsp fresh cracked sea salt (or pink Himalayan sea salt)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Red pepper flakes (to taste)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray baking sheet with a light coat of coconut or avocado oil spray. Break apart broccoli into small pieces and spread evenly on baking sheet (don’t worry if it’s overlapping, the broccoli will shrink as it cooks). Drizzle broccoli with oil. Top with sea salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder & optional red pepper flakes. Toss broccoli  (using hands is easiest) until all pieces are evenly coated with oil and seasoning.  Place in oven for 30 minutes or until the edges look crisp and brown (or ‘burned’).

Tips:
*I like to line my baking sheet with aluminum foil to decrease clean up time.
*Cutting the broccoli pieces with kitchen scissors can be easier than breaking the pieces apart by hand or with a knife.
*You can use fresh garlic and onions but I prefer to use powders to save time.
