RECIPE – Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

Cinnamon Sugar Donuts

I was going to keep this recipe under wraps but many of you have asked for it and I want you to be able to enjoy! These donuts are vegan, gluten-free and just as satisfying as real cake donuts! These have been “approved” by many friends that have gotten to try them. 🙂


  • 1 cup 1:1 GF flour (Bob’s Red Mill brand)
  • 3/4 cup almond flour
  • 1 flax egg (1 Tbsp flax seed + 4 Tbsp water)
  • 3/8 cups unsweetened vanilla oat milk
  • 1/8 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/8 cup Joolie’s cinnamon date syrup **
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Dash of ginger
  • Pinch sea salt

Cinnamon sugar:

  • 1/8 cup cane sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Make flax egg: mix flaxseed and water in small bowl and let sit for 5 minutes to thicken slightly
  • Mix flours, baking powder + baking soda, coconut sugar, spices and sea salt in small bowl
  • Melt coconut oil + milk in microwave for ~30 seconds in large microwave safe bowl
  • Add flax egg and date syrup to milk & oil
  • Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until smooth
  • Very lightly grease donut pan with coconut oil on paper towel
  • Carefully disperse batter into donut pan until each donut round is almost full 
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes and let cool for 5 minutes
  • Carefully take donuts out of pan and cover each side in cinnamon sugar mixture; best served cooled at room temperature


  • The bottom side holds cinnamon sugar better from moisture from baking
  • They’re even better 6-24 hours later! Store on plate covered with foil.
