Breakfast this morning! Some roasted vegetables from last night that I reheated in a pan (pro tip for leftovers!), fresh sliced avocado, Siete foods habanero hot sauce and an egg.
I really wanted an egg this morning…so I ate an egg. I don’t believe in depriving myself of the foods that I like and I don’t categorize my eating in any particular way. I always tell people that I just eat in a way that feels best for MY body. To be frank, I don’t really care if other people don’t understand the way that I eat or get confused when I won’t categorize myself (vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, etc.).
I will say, I have now been primarily whole foods plant-based for 2 years now and have never felt better! I do not consume any meat but on occasion I consume cold-water fish (salmon or tuna primarily) or eggs.
I don’t eat eggs more than 2x/month usually because when I eat them more often, I tend to flare up. I figured that out because for a minute there at the beginning of quarantine in March, I realized that I was eating eggs almost daily with my avocado toast because I was working from home and COULD.
But, as we all know, just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD. I noticed that when I limited my egg intake again, my flare ups went down. Intuitive eating is all about tuning into how foods make you feel during/after eating.
In my client Google Drive, you can find a food journal that I created in order for clients to identify trigger foods for themselves- check it out! If you aren’t yet a client, contact me for more info on enrollment! I would love to work with you and help you identify what foods are causing symptoms and how to decrease the frequency and severity.
